Activity Professionals:

In a whir of activities
I resign to live
So much of my day is to
Give give give

Give me the telephone,
Give me a drink
The hours are crazy
There is no time to think!

The singers are singing
The banjos do play
The school kids just left
And that’s just in one day
!

Today is a field trip
To the park I do think
Just load up the busses
And give my assistant a wink

She is driving today
Its time to relax
I only have time to
Send out a quick fax

My paperwork is scattered
Over two desks and a chair
If anyone asked…
I’d be more than willing to share

The documentation is long
The computers now crashed
With eight MDS’s due
I now have a rash

Ah, the bus group is back
They are just down the hall
Its time for “The Wheel”
Then its Bingo for all!

Is my giving done for the day?
Maybe one or two more things
And then of course,
The telephone rings.

Happy New Year! 2007 :)

January is your month. You deserve to pump yourself up as well as let everyone in your facility and community know what Activity Professionals are all about. Make Activity Professionals Week special for you and your staff. I want to let all of you know how much I appreciate all of you and what you do for WSAAP. I know we all get busy, but I want you to know that I am not too busy to take care of anything you need from me or WSAAP. You are important to me and I appreciate each and every one of you. You are special people and do great things for the elderly and disabled residents. THANK YOU!

If you are a member, feel free to call me or e-mail me or any of the committee members if you have a question, comment or idea. We are here for you and are pleased to be able to be of assistance to you. That is why we are here, please use the resources you have among the members of WSAAP.

If you are new or just browsing,You are welcome to contact me for more information.
At the September conference we had over 20 people join NAAP and the award recipients were in the national newsletter. Congratulations to all of our special members. Looking forward to seeing you at the board meeting this spring.

Rae Anne Randall,
WSAAP President

Thank You ACTIVITY PROFESSIONALS!

You are the heroes to many.

You don’t need thanks - you hear and see it in the greetings you get each day. You serve not for money but for the caring and sharing. WSAAP is important to you because of the mission to keep growing and serving your residents. You are an advocate for the many that don’t speak up or can’t speak up. You are a hero to me. I know you are always thinking how to better serve those you care for. You have to be talented in more than just calling games, but also fixing a wide range of broken things that mean a great deal to those you serve. Documentation takes a great deal of your time and your work is not done until it is completed. The people are what are important to you. Though some days it seems you don’t see them enough, the hours talking to volunteers, family, and friends makes you a hero to me. You carefully budget to get the best for them with the dollars provided, and you have found ways to host memorable parties on a shoe string. You are a hero to me.

Remember we are an important part of a big team; remember you’re a hero to many. Keep growing and serving those who need you. Take some time for yourself, for you are needed as an Activity Professional. You are someone’s hero. You are my hero.

Thanks for all you do each and every day!
Have a Great Year!
Hope to see you at the WSAAP Board Meetings and Annual Conferences.

Cindy Wesche, ADC
